The Oklahoma Model
In 1992 Cimarron's team designed and built the Oklahoma Capital Investment Board (OCIB), the first regionally focused private equity fund of funds in the United States. Cimarron's team developed the original investment strategies and asset allocation plans, raised the capital, and implemented a comprehensive investment program for this fund of funds.
A major success, the OCIB program was increased to $100 million in 1999. The Oklahoma Model was recognized by the Venture Capital Journal in 1993 as providing "the best model for those states that want to target investments to a given area and still meet the needs of their pensioners."
Cimarron continues to lead the way in pioneering new models for regions seeking to enhance entrepreneurial environments and local venture capital industries. With OCIB as a model, Cimarron has gone on to build the Arkansas Institutional Fund (AIF), a $70 million program, and the Iowa Fund of Funds (IFOF), a $100 million program.
